- Where personal finance and personal freedom collide

"Until and unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to be the tool by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of men. Blood, whips and guns – or dollars. Take your choice – there is no other – and your time is running out." — Francisco d'Anconia's speech about money in Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

Check out the Carnival of Debt Reduction (like Suze Orman would do)

curtis — 6 January 2009 - 3:26pm

The Jan. 6 edition of the Carnival of Debt Reduction has been posted over at American Consumer News and it includes my post on the catharsis of paying of large swaths of debt.

A few other posts you might enjoy reading include:

  • Reader Question - Keep Emergency Fund Or Pay Off 0% Balance Transfer Credit Card? by My Two Dollars – personally, I would pay off the debt, and then rebuild your emergency fund. It feels so good to see that balance dwindle, and you still have the cards if you need them in an emergency (though, only for an emergency). Since you won't have monthly payments on your cards, you can rebuild your emergency fund that much faster.
  • 5 Secrets the Credit Card Companies Don’t Want You To Know by Apply-4-Credit.com – I'm not sure these are "secrets" per se, since such terms have to be disclosed in the account documents you get when you apply for a credit card, but they are still good pointers.
