Tracking your tax dollars
curtis — 16 April 2009 - 4:47pm
I found a link to an interesting pictorial that shows the breakdown of your tax dollars (according to 2008 budget funding and requests) over at The Daily Paul.
The most interesting part to me is the section that describes how the money is collected. Here's a transcription – the visual is much prettier.
Who Pays?
For every $1 Billion of total federal spending...
- Every taxpayer has to pay $4 on average ($550 million total)
- Every employer has to pay $1 per employee on average ($150 million in total)
- $140 million is borrowed
- Every corporation has to pay $20 on average ($110 million in total)
- $40 is collected in estate, gift, excise and other taxes
Anyway, here's the pic. Click on it for a larger version.
Look intimidating? That's because it is!!
